Nada Sahib Gurudwara

Location: This famous Gurudwara of Chandigarh is located on the bank of Ghaggar River in the foothills of Shivalik in Panchkula. It is among one of the famous places of the Sikhs. It is located about 10 km east from Chandigarh City.

Main Highlights (Famous For): Religious value as Guru Gobind Sigh had halted here during the battle with Mughal.

Nada_sahib_gurudwara

Created: This Gurudwara was constructed in the memory of the tenth Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji of the Sikhs. Guru Gobind Singh ji had taken shelter here while he was traveling along with his fellow soldiers to Anandpur Sahib from Paonta Sahib after he defeated the Mughals in the Bhangani fight in the year 1688. A person named Nadu Shah Lubana served Guru and his admirers and offered them milk and food. Later on, this place has been located and a platform is raised by Bhai Motha Singh from the village nearby.

About the place: This sacred place is one of the very important religious places for the Sikhs. Though the exact date of the construction of this Gurudwara and details about Bhai Motha Singh is not known but the shrine has been treated as one of the most sacred places since its discovery. Since it was taken over by the Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee in 1956, several new constructions are made around the original Manji Sahib. A dome is built in the place of original Manji Sahib. This dome is a double storeyed and there is a meeting hall there which is rectangular in shape. There is a holy flag always flying on the top of the 105 feet high structure on one side of the courtyard. Every day, religious meetings and community meals are arranged here. On the full moon day, thousands of devotes gather here from all over the north India.

Location: The Open Hand Monument in Sector 1 of Chandigarh City at the foothills of Himalayas, Shivalik Hills is one of the marvels of its kind in structural creation in the modern world. Open Hand Monument

Created: Created by the respectable planner and builder Le Corbusier, the Open Hand Monument in the midst of Capitol Complex in Sector 1 in Chandigarh attracts thousands of visitors everyday from all over the country and across the world. This metallic structure resembles like a metallic bird which slowly rotates on the ball bearing. According to the local people, this metallic hand-like structure represents the map of Haryana.

About the place: This wonderful place of attraction in the Chandigarh City does not have any entrance fees for the visitors. Visitors can go this place in the early morning and enjoy the unique structure created by Le Corbusier. This architectural excellence is made of metallic sheets and has a base made of large chunk of iron. This base is buried several meters into the ground so that it could have enough support for the hand and the beam of this metallic hand. Location: Amb Sahib Gurdwara, a Sikh shrine, is situated in Phase 7, Mohali near Chandigarh. The Gurudwara is approximately 10 kilometers from Chandigarh.

Amb Saab Gurudwara

Created: It is stated that in the year 1659, Guru Har Rai came to this place to meet his follower, Bhai Kooram. The main thing about this Gurudwara is the mango tree, as commanded by the seventh guru of sikhs. The devotees get mangoes in the form of Prasad. On the occasion of Sakrant, which comes during the first month of the year (January), a fair takes place in the Amb Sahib Gurdwara to commemorate Guru ji. Hoards of devotees come and visit the place every year.

About the place: This is a historical Gurudwara in the loving memory of the seventh Sikh Guru, who once came here to sanctify this place and to fulfill his promise with Bhai Kooram ji, lobana by caste, an occupant of Village Lambian, when he went to Amristsar to pay homage to the 5th Guru of Sikhs, Shri Guru Arjan Dev ji. Then following the request of Bhai Kooram ji, Guru Arjan Dev ji gave assurance to come to his place in his 7th Avatar. This great place honors the journey of Guru Sahib.

Location: Chattbir Zoo is also known as the Mahendra Chaudhary Zoological Park. It is located near Zirakpur, on the Zirakpur-Patiala Road about 17 kilometers away from Chandigarh.

About the place: The Chattbir Zoo is open for the visitors six days a week from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. and is closed on Mondays and the national holidays. Entrance fee is needed for everyone above 3 years of age. Separate fees are charged for the different kinds of vehicles. Royal Bengal Tiger is the most important attraction of this zoo. Visitors could visit the tiger reserve in caged vehicles and watch them closely. Himalayan Bear is also a point of attraction in this zoo. Some other animals present here are white deer, crocodiles, deer plus elephant. Visitors also enjoy Lion Safari in this zoo though the number of lions has reduced considerably.
